Begin your journey in Atenas, a town rich in Costa Rican tradition and culture. Mornings are dedicated to meaningful service projects, offering a direct introduction to the local community and its vibrant way of life. Then, prepare to explore Costa Rica's stunning natural wonders, from the majestic Arenal Volcano region with its rejuvenating hot springs and cascading waterfalls, to the exotic Pacific coast's Manuel Antonio Beach. Discover firsthand why Costa Rica is celebrated for its environmental respect, endemic wildlife, and sustainable tourism practices through our hands-on eco-adventure component.

The first week of the program live in Atenas where you will spend your mornings on the community service project.
While in Atenas experience Costa Rican culture firsthand when living with one of our carefully selected homestays. You will experience Costa Rican foods and cooking traditions. Two to three participants are normally placed per home. All houses have WiFi.
Complement your community service with afternoon cultural activities such as a latin dance class, art workshop, market visit, and traditional cooking class.
Travel to the tropical lands of La Fortuna at the base of the majestic Arenal Volcano, the world’s most perfectly shaped conical volcano, and experience raw adventure in this exotic setting. Hot springs heated by the volcano, rainforest full of sloths and amazing animals of all sizes, hiking to the La Fortuna waterfall, and beautiful swimming holes. Here you will also learn about coffee and cacao production and ecotourism.
After our time in La Fortuna head to Jacó Beach on the Pacific for surf lessons. Then on to Manuel Antonio, one of the most beautiful beaches in Central America, and world-renowned for its National Park. Take part in white-water rafting and hiking to see wildlife and explore hidden coves. Of course, there will be plenty of time to relax on the tropical beach and take in the Costa Rican sun!
At the end of the journey head back to Atenas for a farewell pool party and delicious lunch.
All equipment for activities is provided, such as surf boards. Follow packing details listed in your handbook. Among other items you will need:
