Combine community service with tropical exploration & adventure!
This program is the perfect combination of community service and an eco adventure. Start your journey in the picturesque town of Atenas, the birthplace of Costa Rican tradition and culture. Mornings are dedicated to your service project where helping the local community serves also as an introduction to the country. Then comes the time to explore the natural side of Costa Rica from the Arenal Volcano region, with its hot springs and waterfalls, down to Manuel Antonio Beach on the exotic Pacific coast. Costa Rica is known for its respect of the environment, endemic wildlife, and sustainable tourism practices. Experience and learn about this first-hand through our eco adventure component.

The first week of the program live in Atenas where you will spend your mornings on the community service project.
While in Atenas experience Costa Rican culture firsthand when living with one of our carefully selected homestays. You will experience Costa Rican foods and cooking traditions. Two to three participants are normally placed per home. All houses have WiFi.
Complement your community service with afternoon cultural activities such as a latin dance class, art workshop, market visit, and traditional cooking class.
Travel to the tropical lands of La Fortuna at the base of the majestic Arenal Volcano, the world’s most perfectly shaped conical volcano, and experience raw adventure in this exotic setting. Hot springs heated by the volcano, rainforest full of sloths and amazing animals of all sizes, hiking to the La Fortuna waterfall, and beautiful swimming holes. Here you will also learn about coffee and cacao production and ecotourism.
After our time in La Fortuna head to Jacó Beach on the Pacific for surf lessons. Then on to Manuel Antonio, one of the most beautiful beaches in Central America, and world-renowned for its National Park. Take part in white-water rafting and hiking to see wildlife and explore hidden coves. Of course, there will be plenty of time to relax on the tropical beach and take in the Costa Rican sun!
At the end of the journey head back to Atenas for a farewell pool party and delicious lunch.
