This program fully immerses you into the art scene and culture of Oaxaca from its origins to the most contemporary expressions. Meet local artists and find the inspiration to create your own pieces through fantastic workshops held by talented instructors. Take art classes every morning at the University of Oaxaca focusing on painting and drawing (Summer I: 30 hours, Summer II: 45 hours). Throughout the program, visit nearby villages to encounter the famous folk art communities. Meet with gifted artisans working with pottery, textiles, candles, and alebrijes. In most of these activities you will produce your own creative works of art.

This program delivers participants hands-on learning experiences in a variety of art forms that are typical to Oaxaca and its surrounding region.
Live with a carefully selected homestay. Homemade meals are prepared in order to experience Oaxacan cuisine and cooking traditions. All houses have WiFi.
Begin with a tour of Oaxaca's numerous art galleries. Visit the renovated San Pablo Cultural Center and the Textile Museum.
Workshops begin with and introduction to printmaking techniques and traditions with local instructors.
In the skull painting workshop get acquainted with Day of the Dead and its artistic traditions.
Meet with local artisans and incorporate the city as the backdrop to the workshops and your artistic creations.
