This program fully immerses you in Oaxaca's art scene and culture, from its origins to contemporary expressions. Explore the unique diversity of crafts found in Oaxaca. Meet local artisans and find inspiration to create your own pieces through interactive workshops led by talented instructors. Weekday mornings take painting and drawing classes at the University of Oaxaca (Summer I: 30 hours, Summer II: 45 hours). In the afternoons, participate in a variety of engaging cultural activities such as city tours, a printmaking workshop, an art gallery tour and painting alebrijes. The weekends include excursions to Monte Ablán pre-Hispanic ruins and other local sites of interest.

This program provides participants with hands-on learning experiences in a variety of art forms that are typical to Oaxaca and its surrounding region.
Live with a carefully selected homestay. Homemade meals are prepared in order to experience Oaxacan cuisine and cooking traditions. All houses have WiFi.
Begin with a guided tour of the Monte Albán archaeological site and visit its amazing museum with many examples of pre-Hispanic art.
Take painting and drawing classes at the University of Oaxaca during the weekday mornings. Earn a college transcript for the hours completed.
Tour Oaxaca's numerous art galleries. Visit the renovated San Pablo Cultural Center and the Textile Museum. Local art museum visits highlight the modern and historic art styles of Oaxaca.

Weekend excursions will vary as per your session dates. Typical excursion destinations are Hierve El Agua, Sierra Norte Mountains or Teotitlán del Valle.
